buste d'Anseme Mathieu sculpté par M. Langloys, situé au Parc des Poètes à Eyragues He studied at the college Dupuy where he had Joseph ROUMANILLE as a teacher. He also met Frédéric Mistral in this school.

One of his poetry booklets, "La Farandoulo", was prefaced by his friend Frédéric MISTRAL and was published in 1862.

If Anselme Mathieu didn't have the same influence as Mistral on the Provençal language rebirth, he took part of it by signing a few poetries and stories on the "Armana" under the name "Felibre di Poutoun".

He died on February 8th 1895. He stays in history as a living memory and image of a good poet that brought a new impulse on the Provence.
